Endogenous and seasonal factors influencing circulating thyrotropin concentration in Red Sokoto and Sahel goats

Through regulating thyroid physiology, thyrotropin influences the activities of hormones, including thermogenesis and adaptation to ambient thermal challenges. This study aimed at evaluating some endogenous factors (breed, sex, age body mass index; BMI) season on circulating concentration in Red Sokoto Sahel goats. A total 120 goats were sampled, comprising (n = 20) each during peak cold-dry (CDS), hot-dry (HDS) rainy (RAS) seasons a tropical Savannah climate. Results revealed that among goats, bucks had significantly higher (P<0.05) than does HDS, while adults values kids RAS.
